Dakine had its origins in Maui’s north shore in 1979, when surfer Rob Kaplan began to develop surf and windsurf accessories. After moving headquarters to Oregon, the company branched into products for backcountry skiing and boarding. This saw the launch of the legendary Heli pack, which was designed to fit everything required for heli-skiing, but nothing more. The company now provide a huge range of products for water and snow-sports, including a fantastic range of high quality snow backpacks, as well as boot, ski and snowboard bags. Everything is made with the same ethos- the company build gear they’re proud of and would be happy to give to friends.
