Ski racing has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century, when the sport first began to gain popularity in Europe and North America. Over the years, many legendary ski racers have emerged, pushing the boundaries of what was thought to be possible and leaving a lasting impact on the sport. In this blog post, we will take a look at some of the pioneers who changed the game and helped shape the sport of ski racing into what it is today.
Family sues after avalanche death
The man, Chris Norris, was skiing in the Topher's Trees area on Mary Jane Mountain in the resort after a recent snowfall. He was with another man but he went off to ski an area on his own and never returned.
His body was found later that day buried in the snow after an extensive search.
A lawsuit has been filed against the owners of the resort, Intrawest.
"They must be held responsible and accountable for what they did. They have an obligation to the people that are coming up there to make sure that the areas they are skiing are safe," said the family's lawyer, Michael Burg, to local media.
He claims the area should have been closed.
Intrawest has made no comment.
It is thought to be only the second inbounds avalanche death in Colorado.
